2023 Airstream International Rally!

We planned and waited for nine months for this trip and the day was finally upon us! This was going to be our longest trip out on the road - in the Airstream - 3-Weeks! This was also going to be the longest trip with Elvis (our 12 year old Beagle Hound Dog). This trip would be 4000 miles! Three hours outside of Fort Worth, Texas a nice check engine light appears. (I won’t get into that saga over 30,000 miles, but you can read our blog post about it).

We stopped in Santa Rosa, New Mexico on Route 66 for one night, and then headed to meet our friends who were already in Moab, Utah from our club, the North Texas Airstream Club. We stayed at Portal RV Resort and it was nice, but despite being in a brand new Airstream, we were not allowed to stay in the “Standard, Elite and Deluxe” sites. The best views and amentites are the Premium sites, but they state, “Class A 10 years or newer 5th Wheel 5 years or newer Super C Approved by Management.”. So that was confusing, we would much rather look at an Airstream than a 5th wheel, but we didn’t let that ruin our fun. This was late June and the mosquitoes were really bad and strong. I mean strong like you need to hit them twice to kill them and they would swarm you like nothing we had ever witnessed in our life! We did a nighttime dinner-show cruise with our friends and had a blast! We stayed in Moab for four days before heading to Yellowstone, Montana (West Side) where we stayed at the Yellowstone, Holiday RV Campground, which is about a 10 minute drive to Yellowstone.
